Perfect for a day out in the fashion city of Arnhem is a visit to the new flagship store of Hul le Kes, where the Hul le Kes autumn/winter collection is now available. This sustainable and socially conscious collection draws inspiration from silence, the sea, and the wind. The collection, filled with moral missions, will soon be available online in various releases.

Hul le Kes AW23

The autumn/winter collection by Hul le Kes showcases an incredible amount of handcraftsmanship. Not only were holes in upcycled fabrics meticulously repaired by hand, but hand-applied embellishments and decorative stitches were also added in Hul le Kes’ Recovery Studio. Certain items in the collection feature the natural dyes that Hul le Kes is known for. Inspired by the foamy waves of the North Sea, Sjaak developed blue patterns with brown accents on white fabrics for this collection.

The latest Hul le Kes collection brings tranquility and comfort in these ever-changing times. Designer Sjaak Hullekes drew inspiration from the peaceful rural life of his youth in Zeeland, an endless source of inspiration for him. It’s a refuge from the hustle and bustle of daily life, where we often overlook our own feelings.

Nostalgic memories result in a collection where robust materials alternate with warm and pleasantly soft fabrics. Warm shades of brown and off-white are complemented by blue and black.

All the fabrics used in this Hul le Kes collection have a natural origin. Existing remnants, upcycled post-consumer household textiles, and antique French linens are supplemented with GOTS-certified new fabrics.

Like every Hul le Kes collection, this one is also gender-neutral and includes dresses and skirts for him, her, and them this season. Inclusivity is also reflected in the sizing, as all garments are available in sizes 0 to 5 and do not adhere to gender-specific fits.

Hul le Kes is More Than Just a Fashion Label

We are working on various levels to create an alternative fashion system and new fashion paradigms. Something different from fast fashion brands and their superficial, short-term approach. Hul le Kes’ circular way of working can be found in their products in the Hul le Kes Store. But we like to go further than just circular products; we like to be regenerative in everything we do. That’s why the Hul le Kes Store provides a space for other designers (engaged in circularity, upcycling, or alternative systems) to showcase their work, for students to learn about circularity, and for you to engage with new fashion practices. In addition to product sales and collaborative project presentations, Hul le Kes also organizes events.
