A world of water-inspired jewelry that celebrates the legacy of Jean Schlumberger

Tiffany & Co. announces the debut of Blue Book 2023: Out of the Blue, the latest launch from Tiffany’s popular High Jewelry collection. As the first Blue Book collection designed by Nathalie Verdeille, Tiffany & Co.’s Chief Artistic Officer of Jewelry and High Jewelry, the extraordinary designs pay tribute to Jean Schlumberger and his fascination with the fantastical creatures of the sea. With its geometric and stylized aesthetic, each masterpiece draws inspiration from the imagination and design philosophy of the legendary designer, continuing and reinventing Schlumberger’s enigmatic symbols of the sea.

Honoring the legacy “With Blue Book 2023, we saw an opportunity to honor the legacy of Jean Schlumberger by breathing new life into some of his most celebrated designs,” said Anthony Ledru, Chief Executive Officer, Tiffany & Co. “These creations have a distinct Schlumberger quality and personality, but the designs are all new. We are confident he would have been just as delighted with each masterpiece as we are.”

The 7 themes

The collection will debut in two phases throughout 2023, embodying various themes that encompass underwater life. The summer collection will be launched with seven different themes: Shell, Coral, Jellyfish, Fish, Sea Urchin, and Starfish. The Shell theme explores the three-dimensionality of objects formed by the ocean. One of the most versatile designs within the Shell theme is a transformable pendant with a detachable diamond brooch, revealing a stunning black opal of over 21 carats. The Coral theme is defined by exuberant hues and features a range of designs with tanzanites, sapphires, and yellow diamonds. Ethereal and luminous, a striking brooch from the Jellyfish theme reflects the graceful movement of jellyfish tentacles.

The Starfish theme, an iconic silhouette of the ocean, reimagines the familiar creature as if entangled between rocks, adorned with opals, aquamarines, tourmalines, and beryls with diamond accents. Additionally, the Starfish theme showcases a field of custom-cut mother-of-pearl starfish entwined in coral-inspired motifs, capturing a snapshot of the fascinating ecosystem of the sea. Extremely rare padparadscha sapphires, Umba sapphires, mother-of-pearl, and carnelian bring the Starfish theme to life.

“In Jean Schlumberger’s imagination and design philosophy, the sea represented an unknown, infinite world. He choreographed unparalleled manifestations of its majesty and mystery, my first Blue Book collection for the House is a deep dive into underwater life that both honors and reimagines Schlumberger’s vision.”
