This is my snakeskin jacket, and for me it’s a symbol of my individuality and my belief in personal freedom.” Sailor Ripley’s words in David Lynch’s Wild at Heart become the perfect mantra for the wild heart, but expressed in the animal-free fur of the Alabama Muse FW 23-24 collection which, as always, makes fascinations with auteur cinema its own by reinterpreting them with its rock sound.

And with that bohemian chic style typical of those who, free of prejudices, cultivate spontaneous creativity and an iconic and timeless sensuality. Because it is naturally beautiful – and sustainable – souls who in their difference choose the Made in Italy animal-friendly furs designed by Alice Gentilucci, in an offering full of unprejudiced colours and avant-garde materials that simulate animal hair without actually being it.

A new era summed up in intarsia work in a flash of off-white that embraces buttery lambskin, natural kidassia, snowy Mongolian fur and spotless fox in a sartorial mix of outerwear with soft silhouettes and varying lengths. For her and for him. A no gender approach for all the models, starting from the irresistible oversized spot – also broken up with star White fox – and its 70s sound that also encompasses the underground muses wrapped in flashes of yellow and red fox, colourful or in pairs, or bewitched by the jacquards and the geometrisms, in mink, of the long coats. And still more yellow fox combined with chocolate lambskin in the agile bolero, also offered in its provocative way in wild jackal. There is room for the peony pink Mongolian fur with its red fox lapels, perfect for contemporary Marylins, next to the powerful peacock blue kidassia, offered embroidered with macro sequins, and with Sioux-inspired collars with jacquard designs that reinterpret the feathers loved by Cher.

Fur is not the only thing in the style vocabulary of Alabama Muse, which brings to the show its cashmere and recycled wool knitwear (95% and 5% respectively), enlivened by skilful workmanship – rice stitch, rib and jacquard, Greek motifs with floating threads – to flirt with the fluffy lamb of the necks and shoulders. Like in the long and oversized bomber jacket with faux leather buttons – naturally unisex – and in the shorter one with a zipper, both in three colour variations; in the ethnic gilet where brown joins yellow and peacock or burgundy and pink.

Not to mention the accessories: the fox fur hat with or without visor, equipped with a cashmere chin strap to be combined with contrasting gloves and scarves, is joined by the patchwork mummy scarf and the iconic jacquard-knitted cashmere balaclava in opposite colours. Most of the Alabama Muse garments are GRS certified and the manufacturing is Made in Italy.

The FW 23 collection of Alabama Muse will make its debut at Milano Moda Donna as part of the calendar of digital fashion shows with a fashion film scheduled for Monday 27 February at 10 am on milanofashionweek.cameramoda.it
