Amsterdam’s De School opens its doors one last time, celebrating all it has been since 2016.

It’s here: Het Einde. De School, housed in the former technical school in Amsterdam-West, marks its end across four days, throughout the entire building. From today, Friday 12th until Monday 15th January, the longest De School’s doors have stayed open, with programming that pays homage to the past as well as nods towards the future. From the cafe to the basement, across genres and styles, the space will open up in a way that it hasn’t ever done before.

With more than 80 acts playing from Friday right through till Monday, De School says goodbye with the longest weekender the space has ever seen. A final thank you, scored by the artists who’ve made De School what it is today. The locals who first cut their teeth in the basement. The ones who, single-handedly and every single time, fogged up the windows of Het Muzieklokaal. The global heavyweights who kept supporting and transforming De School’s spaces. And, of course, the regulars who’ve made De School their home.

There will also be a focus on art, bringing back some favourites from over the years: expect returning videoworks and interactive installations around almost every corner to be discovered throughout the four days. Elements of some of the recurring community-building daytime events that have made De School their home will also be represented, as well as a ‘living room style’ music line up from cultural programmers, consisting of artists who have featured throughout Sound Sessions, LOCH INNs, De Muziekkrings, and more.

Additionally there will be a live and on location broadcast on Echobox Radio, 12:00-00:00, both Saturday and Sunday. Interviews with DJs playing that weekend – locals, regulars and returning internationals – as well as visual artists, and the DS personnel that have made De School what it is. Tune in for a peek behind the scenes of the event, and to hear the untold stories of De School.

The line up for Het Einde will not be revealed, but promises to be a reflection of all that De School was and is: every corner open and alive with music, art, food and culture.

“Together, one last time. We hope to see you there.”
