This spring, Lanvin decided to bless our eyes and inner muse with a short film created in collaboration with renowned French choreographer Benjamin Millepied. Benjamin Millepied is known for his innovative fusion of classical ballet and contemporary dance as well for his work as the Founder and Artistic Director of LA Dance Project. The French choreographer, dancer and filmmaker has created the choreography and film for Lanvin that captures at once the sublime freedom of a body in motion and the singular essence of Lanvin, a symbol of a unique feminine power and artistry.

The short film titled Elegance in Motion, showcases dancer and model Coline Omasson dressed in the house’s iconic charmeuse gowns and ballerina flats, projecting the quintessential Lanvin woman.

“With this film I wanted to create a Gesamtkunstwerk of sorts. A dance that connected and reflected everything that is Lanvin through the beautiful performance of Coline”,

Benjamin Mullepied, referring to the 19th century German concept of a ‘total work of art’.

Elegance is given form and life in a tribute to an artistic medium greatly admired by Jeanne Lanvin herself.

“French elegance, refinement and creativity are on display in the freedom of her body in movement. In the dance, she becomes one with the music, the movement, the dresses. Her inner life, her freedom of expression, are expressed in a fleeting, ephemeral moment of grace”

Benjamin Millepied

“It was largely improvised; Coline danced as she felt in the moment, and we were there to capture it in what seemed the most appropriate, unobtrusive, and delicate way”.
