‘Becoming Karl Lagerfeld,’ a show unfolding the events of legendary designer’s earlier life story, is coming to Disney+ this June.

In 1972, Karl Lagerfeld (Daniel Brühl) was only 38. He wasn’t known for wearing his iconic hairstyle yet. He was a ready-to-wear designer, unknown to the general public. As he meets and falls in love with the sultry Jacques de Bascher (Théodore Pellerin), an ambitious and troubled young dandy, the most mysterious fashion designer dares to take on his friend (and rival) Yves Saint Laurent (Arnaud Valois), a genius of haute couture backed by determined businessman Pierre Bergé (Alex Lutz).

‘Becoming Karl Lagerfeld’ immerses us in the heart of the 1970s, in Paris, Monaco and Rome, to follow the formidable flowering of this complex and iconic personality of Parisian couture, already driven by the ambition to become the emperor of fashion. Between glamour and clashing egos, grandiose parties and destructive passions, the audience discovers the story of Karl before Lagerfeld. A story told for the first time on screen and freely based on Raphaëlle Bacqué’s bestseller “Kaiser Karl” (edited by Albin Michel).

Becoming Karl Lagerfeld is available online from June 7th exclusively on Disney+.
