This weekend, at the International Convention Centre of Barcelona, Xiaomi presented all the ins and outs of their newest Xiaomi 13 series. The brand chose to partner up with camera brand Leica to create professional optical lenses, as well as a variety of advanced computational photography options installed on the phone. Other premium features include the latest Snapdragon® 8 Gen 2 and Xiaomi’s own Surge battery management system. Xiaomi additionally unveiled other leading-edge products, including the Buds 4 Pro, Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro, and Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra. Numéro was invited to Barcelona by the tech brand to meet the Xiaomi team, attend the big release, and experience all the premium features the new phones are offering. And I can’t deny Barcelona was the perfect place for testing out the product, with the city’s beautiful architecture, lively cuisine, and the contemporary art galleries.

Leica Co-Engineered Camera System

Every aspect of the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro’s camera system has been created in collaboration with Leica to deliver a professional photography experience. Both smartphones feature a triple camera setup with Leica optical lenses. During the trip, the phone surprised me with the wide range of possibilities the camera is offering. From food pictures of a perfect lunch to capturing Gaudi’s magnificent creations, to stunning portraits, the different lenses make it easy to capture every memorable situation. With a high dynamic range, excellent light-capturing capabilities, and fast responses, the large sensor ensures colourful images with clear contrast and defined textures that reveal every fine detail. Since I love photographing, I really appreciated the detailed camera setup options that will delight hobbyists and professional photographers alike. Users can choose from two different photographic styles – Leica Authentic Look and Leica Vibrant Look, that will provide you with aesthetic options for post-worthy pictures. The video options are just as exceptional, providing vivid colours, sharp contrast ratios, rich details, 4K Ultra Night video, and HyperOIS video stabilization.

Battery and Design

Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro are equipped with the Xiaomi Surge battery management system for a longer life span. I could easily use the phone the entire day without the need to charge it. Also, the minimalistic design and the unique quality of the display on both phones give a truly immersive viewing.

Xiaomi 13 Lite

For younger smartphone users, Xiaomi especially produced a phone for capturing selfies and stories. The product is equipped with dual front cameras and versatile software features. The 32 MP and 8MP front cameras give additional depth information for a natural-looking bokeh effect. In addition, it has Selfie Zoom, Pocket Mirror, and lastly Xiaomi Selfie Glow, which is my favourite function, since it offers the perfect light on your face. This all makes it easy to make the perfect selfie for your socials.

Smart products

During the launch event, Xiaomi also presented its other new smart products. Among others the latest Xiaomi Buds 4 pro. The earbuds have improved TWS features, a polished design, and a high-fidelity listening experience. They additionally feature active noise cancellation, so if you are looking for earbuds that can keep you from distraction in busy places, these are a must.

I would recommend the Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro to anyone who values design and is also busy with sports and health. The watch embodies the perfect combination of classic watch design and modern smartwatch technology. It provides real-time information on more than 100 sports activities.

With the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra, you’re always one step ahead. As the brand’s first e-step with a dual suspension system, Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra offers an incredibly smooth and safe experience.

After last weekend I’m convinced that Xiaomi is the go-to brand if you want to enjoy unique and innovative technology for an honest price. The Xiaomi 13 series are truly inventive, and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in making good-quality pictures.
