GANT UNITES AMERICAN SPORTSWEAR AND PAYS TRIBUTE TO HISTORY IN A NEW COLLABORATION WITH WRANGLER JEANS

GANT, the American sportswear brand, announces its collaboration with the iconic American denim brand, Wrangler. The collection will be launched this fall. This capsule collection, consisting of thirty pieces including jeans, clothing and accessories for men and women, is an exploration of the intersection between East Coast preppy and Western denim. Standout items include bootcut jeans with university emblems, a Varsity jacket with an embroidered western motif and a denim jacket lined with faux fur inspired by rock legends of the 1960s and 1970s.

Origins
Originally a shirt maker and a denim specialist, both brands founded in the 1940s, the two have defined and shaped the rise of American sportswear over time. For fall/winter, these two worlds come together in a joyous celebration of American iconography that looks for new common ground from its massive archives. Christopher Bastin, Creative Director at GANT said, “Working with Wrangler was incredibly fun. From my first meeting with Sean, I knew we were on the same wavelength. We are both vintage nerds and we found out that we had many unexpected similarities in our archives. The confrontation between the histories of our two brands is set in 2022 and has produced some striking pieces.’

A surprising collaboration
Sean Gormley, Global Concept Director, Modern at Wrangler, added: “Wrangler and GANT were at the forefront of the rise of casual Americana design in 1950s America. While Wrangler embraced the Western lifestyle with pioneering products like signature Western jeans, jackets and shirts, GANT focused on the preppy style with their signature button-down shirts. The stories may be different – Wrangler-dressed rodeo stars and ranch hands, while GANT defined the college look – but both brands have had a lasting impact on the culture. The DNA of both of us can be seen in every item in this ode to our shared history.
