Creative agency …,staat and publisher MENDO have collaborated on the publication of THE NEW STIJL. This iconic book explores a unique curation of the most talked-about Dutch creativity today. It will be released on November 16, 2022 and is available for immediate pre-order exclusively online for €69.
Around the world and across a host of creative disciplines, Dutch-born, Dutch-raised and Dutch-educated talent is making waves, changing industries and defining trends. Dutch creativity is very much alive, as exciting and challenging as ever.
What characterises Dutch creativity at a time when national identity is less and less defined by physical borders? THE NEW STIJL is an exploration of that question. This book is not a traditional portfolio, a greatest hits or an academic tome but a curated selection of the now and the next – those who are dreamers, doers and disruptive thinkers challenging us to look at the world in a new way.
It is a bombastic festival of a book, curated across disciplines and styles, full of energy, enlightening conversations, clashing creatives and unexpected combinations. Think big names with unexpected work and unexpected names with big work.
CREATIVITY AS A CONDUIT FOR CULTURAL CONNECTION
Passion and intuition were central tenets of this project throughout its inception. “As a country, we produce an incredible amount of creative talent that deserves a stage. For years I’ve dreamed of creating a platform that allows us to share what Dutch creativity looks like today. THE NEW STIJL represents the enormous diversity and quality of creative work that inspires me again and again — and continually fills me with pride,” says Jochem Leegstra, founder and creative director of …,staat.
THE NEW STIJL is an independent publication that
has been designed, produced and published in the Netherlands. From paper to printing and binding, all elements are thoughtfully executed to elevate the book to a design object. ‘’MENDO’s mission to connect cultures and generations through the love for visual inspiration is greatly underlined in this book,” says MENDO co-owner and publisher Gunifort Uwambaga. “As a bookmaker and lover of tangible stories, I am extremely proud of this unique publication and of the collaboration with …,staat. I see THE NEW STIJL as a love letter to Dutch creativity and as a special highlight in the evolution of MENDO.”
