Built on a rocky peninsula high above the picturesque French town of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, The Maybourne Riviera – a strikingly modernist hotel – is the fifth property of Maybourne Hotel Group. With dramatic panoramic views of the coastline that take in Cap-Martin and Italy to the west and Monte Carlo to the east, the Maybourne Riviera offers an unrivalled setting high above the glistening Mediterranean Sea. The location is famed for its rich art and cultural heritage as well as spectacular beauty, ensuring this new hotel will be instilled with the inspirational and creative spirit.

The hotel, whose aerial and vertiginous exterior architecture is signed by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, includes sixty-nine superbly decorated rooms and suites, all of which enjoy an incomparable view of the sea from their private terraces. The building is composed of three wings: The Crystal wing set on the rocky peak, the Azur wing on the cliffside, and the Corniche wing which harmoniously follows the curves of the landscape.

The Maybourne Riviera collaborates with some of the world’s most renowned artists, designers and architects to create this unique place. André Fu, Bryan O’Sullivan Studio, and Rigby & Rigby bring their unique styles to the table, supported by the Maybourne Group’s design team, led by Michelle Wu.

Although they have very different styles, the artists have all worked following the same inspirations: the azure blue of the sky and sea, the swell of the waves, the pastel tones, the soft lights, the noble materials, everything that recalls the gentle way of life so dear to the French Riviera.

Special attention has also been paid to the artists who have made the region famous. The work of Eileen Gray influences the choice of furniture, textures, shapes and materials used to create the spaces. Coco Chanel, on the other hand, is celebrated through the fine lines, the choice of colors, and that certain “je ne sais quoi” that makes each space unique.

OUTDOOR SPA
The Maybourne Riviera is set in the heart of historic gardens beautifully restored by landscape designer Jean Mus. With its terraced paths, citrus orchard and herb garden, it is the perfect place for a shady walk in the heart of summer.  And at the foot of the Crystal Wing is a superb infinity pool, the view extends from Italy to Monaco.

CULINARY EXPERIENCES
The Maybourne Riviera aims to become a gastronomic destination on the French Riviera with a range of signature restaurants. Chef Mauro Colagreco, of Menton’s Mirazur restaurant, which has three Michelin stars and was voted “Best Restaurant in the World” by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019, brings his vision of the region to two restaurants: Ceto and Riviera.

“Beyond a simple collaboration, I wish to continue to participate in the international influence of the Riviera and its gastronomy.”

Mauro Colagreco

Located on the top floor and offering an extraordinary panoramic view, the Ceto restaurant is totally dedicated to one of Mauro’s favorite themes: the sea. The restaurant is committed to a responsible approach to sustainable fishing, respect for the seasons, variety of fish and anti-waste. Ceto also puts a surprising ingredient at the heart of its recipes: seaweed, which the chef uses from starters to desserts. The restaurant is a forerunner in this area, having implemented an exclusive technique for preserving fish: a maturation chamber that reveals new flavors.

The architect Marcelo Joulia designed the decor of Ceto, reflecting the chef’s inspirations and creations. The elegant and bewitching marine depths stimulate the imagination. The reflection of the sea bed radiates the place already bathed in natural light. The waves, the water, the purity of the colors and the tableware, everything has been thought out so that the restaurant is a continuity between the sky and the sea.

In March 2022, and after only five months of opening, Ceto was awarded its first Michelin star. Mauro Colagreco is supported by young talents who have worked at Mirazur, Andréa Moscardino, and Julieta Canavate (for the pastry).

The Riviera restaurant offers a traditional local cuisine revisited. From Genoa to Saint Tropez, each city has its own speciality. Between the sea and the mountains, Mauro Colagreco’s creations naturally trace the history of this local gastronomy, with the greatest respect for the products, the seasons and the producers. Niçoise salad, Spaghetti alla Genovese, grilled fish, sunny vegetables with olive oil or the very famous Tropézienne. The dishes are gourmet, colorful and simply cooked to reflect a rich and varied gastronomy. The decoration was imagined by the English studio Bryan O’Sullivan, giving pride of place to the colors of the French Riviera. The room and the terrace of the Riviera restaurant are open all day, offering an à la carte menu, a savory and sweet snack menu, as well as a tea time. Chef Romain Ricardi is in charge of the pastry shop.

Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten joins the forces and presents his first establishments in the south of France, with a cuisine inspired by the proximity of the Italian border, while keeping his love for Asian influences. The first, La Piscine by Jean Georges, opened in early May by the infinity pool and offers a selection of summer dishes. On the menu: tuna tartar with yuzu, truffle pizza, kale salad… A delicious moment between two swims. The second restaurant opened its doors this summer. The design is reminiscent of a small Provencal village square. A beautiful terrace with a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean Sea and a champagne bar complete the main room. Japanese chef Hiro Sato will bring to The Maybourne Riviera his mastery of the art of sushi, recognized throughout the world.

RELAXATION AREA
Seven treatment rooms with a breathtaking sea view, a hammam, a sauna, a hair salon and a Zen area, offer an exceptional relaxation experience to all guests. The hotel has chosen to surround itself with confidential and sensory brands to accompany it. For the body, La Eva, an artisanal and holistic brand with an olfactory universe, elevates the senses and takes you on an intoxicating sensory journey. For the face, Augustinus Bader was chosen to take care of our clients’ skin. The brand has developed a complex that nourishes and protects the skin while reactivating the natural renewal process. La Bouche rouge will be the makeup partner and Oribe will take care of the hair.

THE MAYBOURNE RIVIERA AND THE FRENCH RIVIERA
The arrival of The Maybourne Riviera further enhances the historic town of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, with its 10th century medieval castle, its prehistoric Vallonnet cave and even a 2,000 year old olive tree in the center of the old town that still produces fruit.

The small Provencal villages of Menton, Eze, Cap d’Ail, Villefranche-sur-mer etc. are all opportunities to marvel at the sunny heritage of the French Riviera. Of course, we can’t forget the rich artistic heritage of painters, poets and writers, from WB Yeats to Coco Chanel. Dali, Picasso and Jean Cocteau, all were attracted by the natural beauty and magical inspiration of such a place.
