The Swiss luxury watchmaker displayed their latest timepieces at LVMH Watch Week including the limited-edition TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph 60th Anniversary edition and the Connected Calibre E4, SportGolf, and All-Black Titanium editions.

TAG Heuer celebrates the most collectible version of the original Carrera, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph 60th anniversary edition. Six decades on from the birth of the genre-defining Carrera, TAG Heuer introduces a 600-piece limited edition model inspired by a collector favourite. The 600-piece edition watch has a ‘panda’ dial and becomes the curtain-raiser to the 60th Anniversary of Jack Heuer’s timeless creation, the Carrera.

To pave the way for the year-long celebrations devoted to the Carrera’s 60th Anniversary, TAG Heuer’s design and engineering teams chose to return to one of the most collectible of all vintage Carreras, the reference 2447 SN of the late 1960s. The first-generation Carrera model had a hand-wound Valjoux chronograph movement and either a silvered or black dial in a variety of configurations, sometimes with the addition of a scale around the dial periphery. At the end of the 1960s, a second series was added to the line-up with either a silvered dial and black subdials, or the other way around, known respectively as ‘panda’ and ‘reverse panda’.

The colourways are lifted directly from vintage to new, including the black stripes down the central hands and hour markers, the double stops at 12, and of course the black counters with high-contrast white markings. The vintage Heuer logo is in place, too, with the name Carrera above it on a silver sunray-brushed dial. Even the counter at 6 carries over the word ‘Swiss’, marking the watch’s Swiss Made status. In a game of spot the difference, some observers will note the 60-minute and 12-hour counters are reversed, as well as the subtraction of the T from the dial which designated radioactive tritium on the original watch. This has been replaced with contemporary Super-LumiNova on the new model.

Surrounding the dial is a 39mm polished steel case, topped by a raised profile ‘glass box’ in sapphire crystal, which, along with the vintage pushers, beige lume and slimline tension ring around the dial’s outer edge, gives the watch much of its retro look. Turn the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph 60th Anniversary over and its modern classification becomes clearer. A sapphire crystal case back reveals Heuer 02, TAG Heuer’s 80-hour in-house automatic chronograph calibre. The case back is engraved with the watch’s individual number, XXX/600, and with note of its 100-metre water resistance. The finishing touch is a perforated black calfskin leather racing strap with pin buckle.

Alongside the Carrera Chronograph 60th Anniversary, three smart watches also impressed. Most notable was the much anticipated sized-down version of the black titanium TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4.

With its urban, sporty, and elegant all-black aesthetic, the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 in matte black sandblasted DLC Grade 2 titanium has quickly become the most successful style of this collection, alongside the unmatched Golf Edition. With the introduction of a smaller 42-mm size in 2022, joining the original 45 mm assortment, it was only natural that TAG Heuer would now also add a full-black option in this universally appreciated diameter.

Joining the core collection as of mid-February 2023, the new timepiece exudes modernity, high performance, and style. The matte Grade 2 titanium case offers wearers an ultra-lightweight and highly resistant choice for their daily connected companion. With its signature chronograph-inspired design, which includes a black steel rotating crown and matching pushers used for interface navigation, refined watchmaking finishes, and a high-end digital experience with a wide range of watch faces and personalization options, the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 42 mm confirms its pioneering and leading role in the luxury connected watch category.

Paired with a smooth black rubber interchangeable strap with a black titanium folding clasp, ideal for elegant daily wear as well as any sporting activity, it offers outstanding ergonomics, comfort, and refinement. Its large 1.28′′ OLED screen is protected by a domed sapphire crystal, echoing the brand’s mechanical watch excellence.

The watch’s case back is also made of black DLC Grade 2 titanium and houses the heart-rate sensor in its centre. In short, the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 42 mm black titanium and the 42 mm Golf Edition are the lightest connected watches ever developed by TAG Heuer, with this specific watch serving as a very elegant piece for anyone with an active lifestyle. The watch blends seamlessly into all aspects of their life, either by keeping them connected during their working hours or recording their fitness or yoga sessions, while also tracking their daily activities in the wellness tracker. Wearers will be able to benefit from every functionality available on the other models, access to all sports tracking for instance, such as Running, Cycling, Walking, Swimming, Golf, and different Fitness activities, including the seven-minute workout with guided coaching directly on the watch.

The wearer can also choose from the many interchangeable strap designs sold separately. Versatile digital or mechanical-inspired watch faces are available to download, as well as the NFT and image viewer dial, so the wearer can perfectly match their TAG Heuer Connected to their individual styles and needs. The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 42 mm in black titanium runs on Wear OS by Google and will be compatible with the upcoming Wear OS 3 software update, which will be made available shortly.

The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 42 mm in black titanium will be available from mid-February 2023 on the brand’s e-commerce websites, in stores, and at select retail partners.
