SHYGIRL, BLAWAN TO JEFF MILLS: DEKMANTEL RETURNS WITH HOTTEST LINEUP YET FOR THEIR 9TH EDITION
With names that include the likes of Gary Numan, Omar S, Blawan, Nala Sinephro, Stingray 313, Jeff Mills, Peach, Young Marco, Naone, and Carista, Dekmantel is returning with their hottest lineup yet for their 5th edition.
Kicking off on Wednesday, August 2, the iconic festival will take place at venues alongside the IJ river, with the main festival grounds within the famous Amsterdamse Bos. This year’s edition, which focuses on color and movement, making a new era in the organization’s history.
Wizard Jeff Mills will kick it off at Muziekgebouw on Wednesday, headlining a night of live concerts with a performance of ‘Tomorrow Comes the Harvest’, the groundbreaking album he composed with late Afrobeat legend Tony Allen. Thursday sees the Aan ‘t IJ programming expanding to venues up and down the river, with live concerts from Colombian avant-pop mystic Lucrecia Dalt, loop abstractor William Basinski, psychedelic techno adventurers Voices From the Lake, ambient jazz prodigy Nala Sinephro and fluorescent crunk maestro Hudson Mohawke.
Amongst the star-studded lineup is the multi-talented artist Shygirl, who will be making her Dekmantel debut, headlining next to more than 25 first-timers, including technicolor rave scientist Avalon Emerson, irrepressible scamp Charlie Bones, Brazilian force of nature Slim Soledad and free-flowing groove cultivator DJ Koolt. Back behind the decks, Dekmantel 2023 also plays host to a slew of special back-to-back DJ pairings, including Anz & Special Request, Jane Fitz & Marco Shuttle, and D.Dan & Freddy K.
The renowned and highly participated festival has dedicated itself to championing artists at the forefront of electronic music. Not only paying particular attention to those who navigate the outer limits of the dancefloor and beyond, this year’s Dekmantel is a celebration of forward-facing visions and bold new crossovers, and will unfold across a diverse array of ambient concerts, sonic explorations, high-energy DJ sets, radio broadcasts, panel discussions, film screenings and more.
We hope to see you on the dancefloor!
