Paul Smith, Britain’s leading independent design company, specialising in ready-to-wear and bespoke tailoring for men and women, opens in Amsterdam’s De Negen Straatjes.

Located in the city’s popular shopping district De Negen Straatjes, known for its boutique and luxury retailers, the shop presents the men’s and women’s collections as well as selection of cycling product in a modern glass-fronted space.

Inside, the space is divided into two areas linked by a striking marble staircase and coloured handrail, a reflection of the designer’s ‘classic with a twist’ philosophy. Each space is punctuated with a curated selection of classic mid-century furniture as well as more rustic pieces, highlights of which include vintage leather chairs by the celebrated Danish architect Kaare Klint.

As is customary in Paul Smith shops, art also takes centre stage in the space with a vibrant wall relief by British artist Nigel O’Neil, a series of drawings by Peter Collins and a hand picked selection of antique abstract oil paintings. The work of Marion Sagon has been commissioned to celebrate local artists. Those with keen eyes will also spot a few hidden, humorous details like a cast bronze mouse hidden in the skirting board a typically ‘Paul’ touch.

Together with Numéro Netherlands, Paul Smith gave an exclusive launch event to celebrate the grand opening of Paul Smith’s new Amsterdam shop.

Paul Smith Amsterdam opened on November 2022. Berenstraat 11, 1016 GG Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
