American flavors, steeped in the brand, pervade Palm Angels Spring-Summer 2023 collection. Welcome to Miami, a city filled with opposites and contradictions where light, color, energy and can-do attitude contrast with the dark atmospheres of a time. Photographed in a retro-looking travel agency, the collection  portrays the two souls of the city. Bright pastel colors become one with images of the city when in the 80s, at the peak of its social and economic boom, it dominated the news. From the most emblematic archive of our time, Getty Images collaborated to select a series of unique photos printed on some items, paneled together in a bold tiled fashion.

Freedom permeates the entire collection that Francesco Ragazzi has conceived as a tabloid of some sort to tell a story of oppositions through a medium, photography, that is very dear to him. His authentic tailoring take insinuates itself in other matters, into an aesthetic that winks at the classic but lingers on contemporaneity. The collection takes its cue from the wardrobe of Miami city dwellers style. Monochromatic suits and coats, windbreakers, shorts, shirts and dresses live seamlessly with printed tropical palmate paradises and sharks, that alongside sharp silhouettes and new volumes define the multiplicity embedded in the heart of the brand. Chino trousers cut raw as shorts with folded waist bands are combined with details highlighting the ‘Made in Italy’ manufacturing of Palm Angels. Wet look satin, shine denim, painted stars in muted tones on oversized slouchy jeans, which gently taper at the hem, pair with a downtown Miami off-duty look. Rebels, beach goers and party club attendee’s wardrobes have been reimagined and catered for suiting to their specific attitude. Crumpled washed deconstructed suit jackets and relaxed trousers, paired with a palm motif Hawaiian shirt and gold upside down palm pendant chain.

Palm Angels is all about genuine codes and diverse perspectives. The collection tone pointedly echoes a re-edited ‘80s feeling. Underlined by the iconic athletic stripes, utilitarian garments, outerwear, sweaters and checkered knitwear and pants create an accurate language and style of life. A palm printed satin jersey dress has a ruffled trim which runs along a square shaped seem where a contrasting yellow insert panel finishes the dress with a casual t- shirt neckline. The look is paired with sports socks, satin curved bag with palm patch and cut out metallic leather boots. The color palette is resolved, to referencing Florida’s ‘Magic City’ with tones of yellow, coral pink, vanilla blue, contrasted with saturated colors of magenta, ceramic cyan and milkshake brown. Accessories come alive with news: boots are open, sneakers have a college mark, derby shoes take on a yellow hue as well as a polished black. Bags are small but also come with roomy size. The collection now and then expresses the freedom to be what you want, as we are what we have been and today is nothing but a bridge between the past and the future. And we are here to build it up.
