Off-White™ celebrates its Spring/Summer 2022 eyewear collection with the release of a campaign featuring models Adut Akech and Sang Woo captured by photographer Lukas Wassmann in the collection’s genderless, avant-garde, bold frames. Snapped backstage at the brand’s recent runway show “Spaceship Earth: an Imaginary Experience” at Palais Brongniart, during Paris Fashion Week, the campaign images reflect Off-White’s signature splicing of real-life expression and elevated artform, with a laidback Akech dressed in an Off-White™ High Fashion gown.
This provocative duality also characterizes the universal eyewear collection. Comprising 14 styles constructed of acetate and one combining acetate and metal, it places a spectrum of sunglasses alongside Off-White’s first optical designs. These optical styles are specially crafted to block the artificial blue light emitted by digital screens — from computers to mobile phones — thereby offering everyday wear for all, including those who may not need prescription spectacles but wish to reduce eye strain and fatigue without compromising personal style.Exclusively made in Italy, the overall collection reflects the brand’s ongoing dedication to progress, innovation, and diversity while retaining Off-White’s renowned graphic codes of architectural linearity and contemporary aesthetics.

The boldly geometric Pantheon frames unambiguously express this direction by uniting two squares to form a rectangle, which encapsulates two circular lenses. Other designs with location-based names that nod to places dear to Virgil Abloh include the sleek, classic, architectural Zurich and the modern, rectangular, subtly cat-eyed Nassau, which employs considered volume play to impart a 3-D graphic effect. Meanwhile, the Carrara and Accra channel quintessential glamor. The Carrara’s oversized oval shape features thick temples and milling details that give it a bold, vintage look while simultaneously reducing the weight of the frame. The Accra also marries retro and modern with an exaggerated, chunky cat-eye shape united with distinct milling details.
Conversely, the Atlantic and Mercer styles take geometry to a playful space. Pulling inspiration from toy construction sets, they punctuate their classically shaped frames with geometric cutouts and rounded corners that recall both the set’s pieces and Off-White’s irreverent roots. The Cannes — a cheeky take on the Accra — and iconic Cady frames also employ cutouts, but at a greater scale, carving their edges with the brand’s circular “Meteor” slices.

Across the collection, colorways range from timeless black and havana frames to vibrant pop designs in red, blue, and crystal, which also characterize this season’s take on the ultimate icon: the Virgil. The trademark glasses take their name from Abloh, who frequently wore the distinctive design. A true embodiment of the Off-White™ spirit, they appear in six considered color combinations, each characterized by monochrome frames and light blue mirror and blue/purple mirrored lenses — plus one timeless iteration that features black frames with full smoke lenses. The Washington design takes the expression a step further, reinterpreting the iconic, geometric Virgil for the first time in acetate and metal, while additional icon styles (the Catalina, Tropez, Arthur, and Manchester) remain available as seasonal carryovers.
