The 1500 Series 35th Anniversary Made in the UK Edition pays homage to New Balance’s continued commitment to excellence and features a number of subtle updates to the iconic silhouette.

In 1989, at the height of the running boom, New Balance introduced its most pinnacle running silhouette to date – the 1500. 35 years later, in April 2024, the brand returns to celebrate a legacy of elevated craftsmanship and precision design, with the limited edition 1500 Series Made in the UK sneaker.

Taking a total of three years to create and described at launch by New Balance as the ‘closest thing yet to the perfect running shoe’, the groundbreaking silhouette was born out of a collaborative design process with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In relentless pursuit of technological advancement, the 1500 model featured a brand new acceleration pad in the forefoot of the midsole which was paired with an ENCAP sole in a unique heel capsule to create a superior performance experience.

Far from a simple reissue, the reintroduced 1500 Series Made in the UK sneaker features a host of elevated updates to the iconic silhouette. Taking inspiration from one of the earliest 1500 styles, the anniversary edition dresses the look in materials from specialist European vendors including a premium grey nubuck paired with a tonal mesh and synthetic details. The innersole and box sleeve artwork, meanwhile, boast a heritage 1500 series style graphic that harks back to the model’s original marketing materials as well as a commemorative typographic mark which reads ‘35 Years of Excellence’.

The New Balance 1500 Series Made in the UK 35th Anniversary Edition sneaker is available at select retailers globally.
