Netflix announces the arrival of an exclusive theatrical version of Stranger Things. From an original story by the Duffer Brothers, Jack Thorne and Kate Trefry, Stranger Things: The First Shadow will have its world premiere at the Phoenix Theater in London’s West End in late 2023. Written by Kate Trefry, writer and producer of the TV series Stranger Things, the new play is rooted in the mythology and world of the global Netflix phenomenon.

Hawkins, 1959: an ordinary town with ordinary concerns. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister doesn’t take his radio show seriously, and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family discovers that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and that the past will always haunt you.

Stranger Things: The First Shadow is produced by Netflix and Sonia Friedman Productions. The film is directed by Stephen Daldry with Justin Martin co-directing. The Duffer Brothers serve as creative producers, with 21 Laps serving as associate producer.

This new theatrical adventure, brought to life by a multi-award-winning creative team, is taken to a whole new dimension with high-end technologies. It takes you back to the beginning of the Stranger Things story – and may hold the key to the end.
