Miley Cyrus has released her eighth studio album, Endless Summer Vacation.

Miley recorded the album in L.A. with producers Kid Harpoon and Greg Kurstin, among others. In a video on Instagram, Miley explained that Endless Summer Vacation has two parts: a.m. and p.m. Where the a.m. tracks represent the “buzz and energy of the morning”, the p.m. tracks are about the many possibilities the evening offers . Miley: “In the evening, it’s a great time for rest, it’s a time to recover – or, it’s a time to go out and experience the wild side. In L.A. there’s a certain energy to the night that you can kind of feel trouble boil up to the surface and it’s very inspiring to me.” The album also features two duets, with Sia and Brandi Carlile.

The special Miley Cyrus ‒ Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions) premieres today on Disney+. In it, Miley shows the process behind her album. In addition, she plays a number of new songs and previous hits and does a duet with Rufus Wainwright.

In January, Miley released the album’s only single to date: Flowers. That track was #1 on Billboard for six weeks and now has almost 650 million streams. It was the fastest single ever on Spotify to reach 500 million streams. In the UK, Flowers held the record for the longest single by a female solo artist at #1.

Endless Summer Vacation is the follow-up to Miley’s previous album Plastic Hearts from November 2020, which now has over 3 billion streams.
