Actor, screenwriter, director, and producer Michaela Coel appeared in Custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture, designed by Daniel Roseberry, to co-chair the 2023 MET Gala.

Michaela Coel wore a second skin gown in sheer tulle encrusted in golden crystals. The dress was then re embroidered with trompe l’oeil jewelry in different shades of gold and translucent topaze. Each design of bijoux is inspired by the costume jewelry creations of Karl Lagerfeld, but features Schiaparelli codes, specifically human anatomy molded in leather and covered in gold leaf.

Over 135 000 crystal beads, 26 500 mix stones and 3 800 hours of hand embroidery work were required to complete the look.
