LOVECHILD 1979 SHOWCASES ITS PRE-SPRING 2024 NAMED CONCENTRATED TACTILITY
The trailblazing New York artist Donald Baechler sowed a solid inspirational seed for the Lovechild 1979 Pre-spring 2024 collection. Interpreting and working with shades of black, like the layers in Baechler ́s work steered the collection into a tactile and contemporary direction.
Baechler ́s layered mono-colour technique as well as his graphic aesthetic brings depth to his paintings. Work that is so simple and minimalistic, yet tactile and profound have been translated into clothes that explore the relationship between contemporary and vintage. Bridging decades and seasons.
Building the Pre-Spring 2024 collection we took the stained, the well-used and loved. Focusing on the hand feel of crisp and dry materials against the soft and patinaed, giving character to the composition.
The opposites of the light cream and yellow tones and the dense black, the dry and the soft, the heavy and the light brings the Pre-Spring 2024 collection into a fine balance. Like the history of Lovechild 1979 ́s waltz with menswear notes and feminine feel, opposites complete.
Black, cream, brown and earthy tones set the mood, with an addition of colder shades of grey – contrasted by warm greys and a reddish teak. The tobacco tones and dry burnt look enforced by the seasonal abstract pattern, drawing our thoughts to yellowed paper and smoke.
Softened by draped fabrics and soft tailoring with asymmetrical detailing in fine brown shade of herringbone pattern, and a beautifully reworked Celtic Aran cable stitch knit completed by 70s fringes, as a nod to our 1979 brand name.
Rounding off the levels of layering, completing every composition, a hand-crafted hard leather crossbody bag with hand-stitched detailing and butter soft leather flats with a slight square toe in brown and cream.
Building these components up in layers, inviting strong influences from art and the natural settings of nature. The collection was suitably shot on a horse farm in the north of Zealand with a mood full of nature, wet black soil, and dry fair grass in a slurred yet crisp analog setting.
