For the first Ready To Wear collaboration, Glenn Martens explores the house archives with a capsule collection that evokes the retro-futurisism of “Cyberbaba” of Spring 1996— a collection centered around the body in the nascent digital era of the pre-millenium. This is the result of a new approach to the direction of maison Jean Paul Gaultier with the founder’s retirement in 2020. Now a fashion laboratory, each new season invites different designers and collaborators to express their own Gaultier, be it in aesthetics or philosophy.

Trompe-l’oeil of naked bodies are printed on denim pants or jack- ets. On a sweater with masculine forms, appears a pair of breasts.  On a miniskirt, a man’s sex. Patterns and genders overlap, especially in the “Wrapped” pieces, layers of tulle sewn over suits. Everything blends together between Glenn Marten’s aesthetics and Jean Paul Gaultier’s house iconic prints and cuts.

The collection is available in www.jeanpaulgaultier.com, www.y/project.com and exclusive retailers worldwide.
