Globally recognised luxury bridal and fashion house Galia Lahav unveils a groundbreaking initiative set to revolutionise sustainability in the bridal fashion landscape. With this innovative platform, Galia Lahav becomes the first-of-its-kind in showing commitment to sustainable luxury, offering brides a guilt-free and environmentally conscious approach to finding their dream wedding gown and being part of the RE:GALIA community.

We chatted about the launch of RE:GALIA with the brand’s CEOs, Osnat and Idan Lahav.

With launching RE:GALIA, the brand is becoming the first-of-its-kind. How was the idea to create the this platform and community born?
The idea for RE:GALIA came from a made-to-order fashion house, out of our commitment to sustainability and our desire for a more circular bridal industry. We recognised a need for a platform that not only offered brides the opportunity to find their dream gown at a more accessible price, but also promoted a circular fashion economy.

How will the brides be able to use the platform and become a part of the community?
Brides can use the platform to buy and sell pre-owned dresses, creating a community where each gown carries its own unique story. By participating in RE:GALIA, brides become part of a movement towards a more sustainable and eco-conscious bridal experience.

What are your ultimate goals to achieve with RE:GALIA?
The goal of RE:GALIA’s marketplace is to create a safe, high-end standard marketplace where our brand’s pre-owned gowns can be sold and perceived. We want to maintain the value of a couture gown by facilitating a platform with services that can eventually change how consumers shop.

The brand is already very popular amongst brides all over the world. How do you wish to expand its reach with the platform, which will enable the new brides to buy their dream wedding gown for a more affordable price?
With this platform, we’re extending our reach to two distinct groups of new customers: those seeking affordability without compromising on quality, and those with a strong commitment to sustainability. Despite their differing priorities, what binds them together is their affinity with our brand. By catering to these diverse needs and values, we’re expanding our market presence and creating a new segment within the bridal industry that reflects the evolving preferences of modern brides.

What inspires you daily in development of the brand for the future?
What inspires us daily is the opportunity to innovate and push the boundaries of bridal fashion. We are constantly inspired by our brides, our GL community and the desire to create unforgettable moments and memories through our designs. We are elongating the gown’s story and cycle.

Sustainability has been becoming an important part of the fashion world for some time now. How important of a value is sustainability for Galia Lahav?
Sustainability is a core value for Galia Lahav. We believe in responsible practices that minimise our environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable future for the fashion industry and the planet as a whole.

What do you generally see as the biggest challenges for sustainability in the bridal industry?
Bridal gowns are often worn only once and then usually just stored away. RE:GALIA aims to address this challenge by promoting the re-use & re-sale of pre-owned dresses, thus extending their lifespan and reducing waste.

What does it mean to you and for the brand to be the first to adopt such an approach in the bridal industry?
Being the first to adopt such an approach in the bridal industry is a tremendous milestone for us. It reaffirms our commitment to innovation, sustainability and creating meaningful experiences for our brides. We hope to set a new standard for the industry and inspire others to follow suit.

RE:GALIA’s unique proposition is not only a marketplace, but also a storytelling platform where each gown carries its own narrative. Can you tell us more about this narrative.
Each gown in RE:GALIA carries its own narrative, from its initial creation by our skilled artisans to being cherished by a bride and now finding a new home through the platform. These narratives reflect the beauty, love and individuality of each bride, creating a rich tapestry of stories that celebrate the timeless magic of bridal fashion.

What novelties and changes do you think we’ll be able to see in the near future of bridal fashion?
In the near future, we anticipate seeing more emphasis on sustainability, inclusivity and personalization. We believe that brides will increasingly seek out designers and brands that align with their values and offer unique and customizable options. Additionally, we expect to see continued innovation in materials and techniques, as designers strive to create more eco-friendly and ethically produced collections.
