Interview by MARIA MOTA

The roots of their musical passion can be traced back to their childhood, but it was during their teen years the twins, Laura and Erika, realized they wanted to dedicate their lives to it. Starting with melodic house sensibilities, evolving to a darker underground sound and a deep passion for techno, thanks to Ghent’s nightlife scene, in Belgium.

“We dream of a wider audience for our music that connects with people on a deeper level and encourages them to follow their dreams, just like we did.”
— LEVS twins

You stepped into the music scene at a very young age. Do you feel like you maintain the same music style or how did it evolve throughout the years?
Our passion for music began when we were little, but it was at the age of 16 that we deeply realized that we wanted to dedicate our lives to it. So we started making music that same year.
Since we haven’t had the opportunity to study music production in a school or something similar, all our knowledge and techniques have been taught by ourselves. At first we produced some house, melodic house and over time little by little it changed to a darker sound like underground. It wasn’t until we moved to Belgium that we discovered what Techno was thanks to a friend who took us to a nightclub in Ghent. It was one of the most beautiful nights of our lives. The feeling
that we felt, the connection to the DJ and the crowd and the whole lively nightlife scene. The room was overwhelming for us. From that night we knew where we had to go and what we wanted to become in the future. And that feeling still remains within us to this day.

How is it to work together? How do you maintain balance and stay in sync?
Working together when we were younger was very easy, we thought the same thing, we did the exact same things every day, most of the time we agreed with each other’s opinion. But since we started to develop our personalities we understood that we were 2 different people and we had to learn to respect each other’s opinion and give each other some space when necessary. At first it was a bit difficult to handle but now we are in full balance. But when it comes to making music or DJing it always goes very smoothly.

What motivates you to explore new beginnings?
We don’t really need to have a motivation to explore new beginnings as we are already very proactive people. We both like to step out of our comfort zone often. We seek for opportunities, changes and personal growth everywhere. We believe we have to learn as much as we can in this life and do as much as is in our hands to move forward and exploring new beginnings can be a way to fuel your creativity.

What would you like to see coming to fruition in your life? What is next for you on a personal and professional level?
We’d like to see coming to fruition all the projects that we are working and have been working on through the past years come to a success.
On a professional level we dream of a wider audience for our music that connects with people on a deeper level and encourages them to follow their dreams as well.
On a personal level, we hope to stay as healthy as we are now, maintain balance in our lives, and continue to work on our spiritual enlightenment.
