Actor Fernando Guallar will star in Netflix’s romantic comedy ‘Pared con pared’ that premiered on 12th April. He is known for his roles in ‘My Heart Goes Boom!’, ‘Postcards’ and ‘La ternura’.

Fernando, you’re starring in Netflix’s romantic comedy ‘Pared con pared’. Tell us more about the story of this film and how would you sum it up?
‘Love Divided’ is a very special movie for me as I’ve always enjoyed the typical rom-coms of the 90s, which is in my opinion the best era for this genre. This movie is genuine and it has been made to let the audience spend a nice time with a constant smile watching how Valentina and David fall in love. The wall is like another character, which helps to tell their story and how they go from anger to love.

In the film, you portray David, a young game inventor. How would you describe David and how do you personally connect with him?
David is an interesting character who experiences a huge transition in the movie. We can see how angry he is with the world, but we also understand later where all of this pain comes from. He is a good person who needs to protect himself and the only way he achieves that is locking himself at home and living a life away from everyone. I could very easily connect with his pain, his feeling of being lost and his fear to feel again the joy he felt in the past.

What was the most memorable experience from filming this film?
Being honest with you, this movie was a very nice experience for me. We shot it two years ago and I would shoot it again. The team was amazing and Patricia Font, the director, did a very good job finding a balance between the comedy and the romantic aspect of the movie. I also shot my first film with her, ‘In Family I Trust’, and we always had a special connection and very good vibes on set.

Spanish productions have been gaining huge popularity in the recent years. What do you believe makes them so popular and successful?
There is extraordinary talent in Spain. I have always worked with very experienced teams there and the only issue we have is that our industry has been quite small compared to others. In this new time of media platforms everything has been more universal, so it’s a good opportunity for us to show the world how good we are even if we don’t have huge resources. I am very proud of films like ‘Society of the Snow’, which shows what Spanish film crews are capable of.

Has acting always been something you wanted to pursue as a career?
I started to act in theatre at the age of seven and step by step fell in love with acting. I decided to study Architecture later and graduated, following my parents advice, but I kept feeling this need to act. At the age of 24, I started my training as an actor and was very fortunate because I got my first offers quite soon.

How would you sum up your development as an actor since your first role to where you are today?
I feel that I was very lucky with the steps I took in my career. It’s been a steady-paced career and I did not experience a huge exposure, so I could take my time to work on projects without big expectations. I started in a TV daily show for one year, got my first role in a TV series ‘Velvet Collection’, shot my first movie and step by step I feel like I got my place within this industry and have worked on different roles lately. It is equally important to know when to decline offers as well as when to accept them.

Out of all the roles you’ve gotten to portray so far, which one stuck with you the most and why?
I have always connected very easily to almost all of my characters, but David in ‘Love Divided’ quickly got in the top 3 of characters that are going to be very present in my career forever. I love to discover the dark side of characters and I am looking forward to portraying one, as I’ve always played characters with a softer side.

What are your biggest career goals for the future?
At this moment in my life I just want to be surprised by the new challenges this industry has for me and the only thing I ask for is good health and spending the best moments with my family, my friends and my dog, Django.

When you are not filming, how do you like spending your free days?
I have learned to truly disconnect from work when I need it. I have an amazing team who takes care of me and of everything when I need some time by myself. I really love to travel and explore new environments and, of course, to have the company of my dog who is the kindest soul I have ever met.

What can you share with us about your other upcoming projects that will be coming out soon?
I have some projects waiting for a release date and I can’t wait to share them with the public. There is a very special movie called ‘Valenciana’, an interesting story about the 90s in Valencia, a region in east Spain, that shows through three magnificent actresses the aspects of corruption, drugs and duel. I also have a guest appearance in two shows, ‘Red Queen’ for Amazon Prime and ‘Second Death’ for Movistar +.

I also just finished my first role on an English spoken movie filmed in Budapest, Hungary, and I am about to start a new film in Spain.
