Interview by Marie-Pauline Cesari

Introducing today Daniel Millar, the dynamic face of Generation Z. His distinctive style, born on social media, has led to a successful modeling career with top fashion brands. Beyond fashion, Daniel’s passion for the performing arts is set to shine on TV. Catch him in this exclusive fashion story by Jingxiong Qiao for Numéro Netherlands Digital.

Daniel, can you share your earliest memories related to fashion?

What really shaped my style early on was my attempt to break the school uniform code. Replacing blazers with leather jackets and sporting audacious jewelry made me feel braver and more independent, revealing the impact of fashion on my life.

How would you describe your personal style?

Independent. I don’t confine myself to trends or aesthetics; I go with what I feel drawn to innately.

Do you have a favorite or most memorable runway show or modeling experience?

Walking the Ludovic de Saint Sernin show in Paris. The whole process, from Ludo messaging me on Instagram to walking alongside fashion idols, happened within three days.

Among the designers you’ve collaborated with, who has been the most inspiring, and why?

Yves Saint Laurent. They were my first collaboration, and I always feel the most powerful in their clothes.

Balancing a busy schedule, how do you maintain a healthy equilibrium between your personal and social life?

It’s a work in progress. Honest people in my life keep me grounded amidst a soaring career, reminding me where to stand.

How do you stay inspired and motivated, especially during challenging times?

I find inspiration in various places, relying on experienced friends in the industry to guide me through uncertain career paths.

You’re not only a successful model but also passionate about acting. How do you balance these two creative pursuits?

I find no difficulty; they complement each other. Modeling is another form of acting to me, conveying emotion drawn from clothes, much like actors do from scripts.

What’s your favorite movie, and if given the chance, which character would you love to play?

I have too many favorites, but I’d love to play a villain. The darker side of acting comes easier to me than the light, fluffy sides.

During your downtime, what are your hobbies?

Figuring out my next work moves.

Can you provide a sneak peek into exciting projects lined up for 2024?

Drama.

What resolutions have you set for yourself in 2024? Which one do you anticipate being the most challenging?

As an overachiever, I want many things, but the biggest challenge will be not beating myself up for not achieving everything and counting my blessings when they come.
