The 8th edition of the international photography fair Haute Photographie will be held from 8 to 12 February 2023 in the Keilepand in Rotterdam. Taking place during Art Rotterdam, the five-day event with more than 50 (inter)national photographers comprises a group exhibition in a 1250m2 space. It presents photography from the past (vintage), the present (contemporary) and the future (talents).

The photography boutique is a meeting place for artists, curators, collectors — novice and experienced — and anyone with a love for photography. There, visitors can behold photography — in the broadest sense- including fine art photography, new work by Neeltje de Vries and Golden Calf winner Kevin Osepa, and modern installations. Imagemaker and artist YANi also presents at the fair with a special experience room: a space furnished with photography, where sound moves with you as you walk. A pleasant way to introduce young and old alike to photography. There will also be unique wet plate prints of visitors made by Maarten Koch.

Three pillars of Haute Photographie

Each edition of Haute Photographie is unique because the three pillars give a different interpretation to the event every time.

This year, Diversity of Photography (art, fashion, sports, street, vintage) is dominated by works from influential icons, artists and image makers. The new book from Eric van den Elsen, celebrity photography by Albert Watson, and an ode to 115 years of the Rotterdam football club Feyenoord are just three examples of the extensive program.

In addition, a unique culinary collaboration will soon be announced for implementing Restaurants & Books. And just like previous editions, a book market will be curated by Artibooks.

New, emerging Dutch talent

The last pillar is Presenting New Talents. In addition to many well-known names in the field, Haute also supports promising Dutch talent through its LAB initiative. Every year, three new talents are chosen and coached to enter the international photography market. The artists include Asha Swillens, Sam Warnaar and Alida van Gool this year. Each will have their own wall at the fair to exhibit printed and framed versions of their work to visitors, industry professionals and photography lovers. All three talents are connected with Rotterdam; either born there, live there, or have studied in the city. Their participation in Haute Photographie is partly made possible by Stichting Droom & Daad.
