After the 2022 openings of three monobrand stores in China, GCDS continues its retail expansion by opening another door in Italy. The location chosen is Capri, the famous island and seaside resort near Naples, hometown of brothers Giuliano and Giordano Calza.

‘Being born in Naples, I was lucky enough to spend my childhood summers in the area between Capri, Ischia and Positano. Even then, Capri seemed like a dream to me and now that I look at it from a distance, living in Milan, I perceive its unique charm even more. It is a real honor for me to add on the retail expansion of GCDS with the opening of a new store in Capri, representing a return to my home and to my roots”, Giuliano Calza, GCDS’ Creative Director.

Located in Piazza Umberto I, the historic square representing the heart of the island’s social life, the store has an area of about 40 square meters and is characterized by a design that combines GCDS’ style with local aesthetics. The walls are covered in yellow lucid eco leather, giving a whimsical touch to the environment, there is a blue logo carpet on the floor and steel clothes hangers and displays. At the entrance, there is a meter-high amphora painted with lemons, as well as a maxi-installation featuring bougainvilleas and lemons inside the store.

For the new opening, GCDS launches a special unisex capsule available in exclusive in the Capri store. A streetwear-inspired selection characterized by jersey sweaters, a college style bomber, baseball caps and towels with the writing ‘CAPRI’, is mixed with a beachwear assortment defined by a new majolica pattern that features a GCDS logo print in a watercolor Capri version. Among the selection, a bowling shirt, shorts, an all-over print pajama, swimwear and a lurex mini-party dress. In addition to this, thanks to the collaboration with small artisans close to Vietri sul Mare, the store will also offer decorated terracotta ceramics from the ‘Baci from Capri’ collection including plates, trays and pocket emptiers. The objects are the result of manual processing and of three firing cycles in high-temperature electric kilns. For the occasion, there’s a new GCDS character designed especially for Capri: a mermaid on a seahorse displaying a pizza, a symbol of Neapolitan cuisine.

The new store, open to the public starting Saturday April 16th, will feature ready-to-wear and accessories from the Spring Summer 2022 collections and the special Capri capsule collection.
