GANT SHOWS NEW SPRING SUMMER COLLECTION INSPIRED BY THE 80S
The first drop of GANT’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection is here and it’s a fresh take on GANT’s nautical heritage. The collection runs from early spring to hot summer and is inspired by maritime prints and sun-bleached pastels.
BASICS OF THE COLLECTION
“Having our roots on the US East Coast, close to the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, we wanted to present an updated view of our heritage. The collection is inspired by archival documents, with maritime references and a nod to the primary colors that mark the sails. of the Nantucket boat. Together with American fashion muses from the 1980s, these elements form the basis for the collection,” said Christopher Bastin, creative director of GANT.
For women, the collection starts with light layered silhouettes, with summery textures and nautical stripes. Key pieces include a cotton trench coat, baggy chinos and a new take on a cropped jacket. Piece by piece contemporary clothing. The prints are watercolor-like, with white and blue setting the tone for the collection, mixed with soft sailboat prints on luxurious silk shirts.
The SS23 collection for men pays homage to 1980s yacht clubs, continuing the maritime focus in womenswear but with a more urban approach. Key pieces such as oxford shirts, contemporary tailoring and loungewear embody the season’s premium essentials in classic color combinations and Breton stripes. This classic expression is combined with bold shapes and colours, with washed-out neons, pinks, yellows and sage greens contrasting with the more neutral base tones.
