Last week, Frederique Constant launched, in collaboration with the French artist seconde/seconde/, two limited editions of the Frederique Constant’s Classic Tourbillon Slimline Moonphase Date Manufacture seconde/seconde/ Limited Edition.

The result is an eccentric, if not somewhat chaotic, reinterpretation of one of Frederique Constant’s most iconic references in its ‘Manufacture’ collection, the Slimline Moonphase Date Manufacture.

At first glance, the Slimline Moonphase Date Manufacture looks quite ordinary. It has a 42mm steel case in three perfectly polished sections, a subtly shimmering matte silver dial, a delicate moon phase, and a date window. Upon closer inspection, you’ll notice that there’s nothing ordinary about the watch.

The applied hour markers seem to be randomly placed here and there. The logo and date appear to be handwritten. Even the moon phase disk with stars seems to be hand-drawn.

On the back of the glass, there is a statement that perfectly summarizes this unexpected and unprecedented collaboration: “How can we let the world know that hand assembly is an essential value of our Manufacture? We asked the artist seconde/seconde/. He went a bit too far”.

Frederique Constant and the artist have jointly created two limited editions, the FC-705SOC4S2 and the FC-705SOC4S6.

The FC-705SOC4S2 comes in a 3-piece stainless steel case of 42mm, features touches of rose gold on the case and dial, and has a dark brown alligator leather strap with a matte finish. The model is limited to just 10 pieces at an RRP of €3,295 and will only be available through the Frederique Constant online boutique.

The FC-705SOC4S6 once again comes in a 3-piece stainless steel case of 42mm, features a silver dial with a matte finish, and has a black alligator leather strap with a matte finish. The model is a retailer’s limited edition limited to 100 pieces with an RRP of €3,295 and will be available at Frederique Constant retailers worldwide.
