FLATLIST EYEWEAR TAPS BRAND SP5DER FOR A COLLAB AND UNVEILS TWO INSECT INSPIRED FRAMES FOR THEIR FIRST DROP
The successful eyewear brand that’s been worn by the likes of Dua Lipa, Travis Scott, Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Offset and many more unveils a collaboration expanding beyond the classical way of doing a merge.
The first drop – launching May 19. The first drop includes two styles; the “Beetle” and the “Slug”.
“We are thrilled to unveil our latest collaboration with SP5DER and introduce our community to the frames that have been in the works for 18 months,” says Mads Faith Hancock, co-founder & owner of Flatlist eyewear.
About the frames:
‘Beetle’, which takes inspiration from the insect of the same name, features a lot of attention to detail that gives the frame a unique and eye-catching look. The design also signals the collaboration between FLATLIST eyewear and SP5DER, making it an iconic piece. The frame will be available in three colorways (Milky Amber, Brown Havana and Smoke Havana Vintage) and incorporates the theme of an insect caught in a spiderweb, playing around with the theme of the collaboration.
‘Slug’, on the other hand, takes its inspiration from the gastropod that feeds on plants and is a slimy pest of leafy garden crops. The frame incorporates engraved gold embellishments and showcases nice attention to detail. The design has a more tough look and will be available in two colorways (Solid Black and Solid Silver Mink). The name Slug also has a double meaning, as it can also mean lazy or slow, which adds a unique layer to the design.
“If there’s something these creative artists like to wear – it’s sunglasses. Whether it’s outdoors or indoors, daytime or nighttime – It’s part of the uniform.”, continues Hancock.
The collaboration extends to more than just the shades in itself. Custom made cases and boxes have been developed in collaboration with SP5DER to reflect on the meaning of the brand name, and being “caught in a web”. Again; a more playful way of utilizing the name and inspiration behind the designs.
