words by MAREK BARTEK

Captured exclusively for Numéro Netherlands, talented photographer Charles Grant explores the idea of masculinity and its meaning in society. The editorial named “Fit For Kings” carries strong visual references to Ancient Greece, playing with statuesque editing and model poses, yet also presents a softer, more feminine side with its intentional styling. The animal print coat, corset, leather gloves and tulle veil among others, worn by models who represent the tradition of masculine ideals all play in harmony and create a sensual juxtaposition. This allows Grant to shape the narrative and open the discussion of what it means to be manly and how or even why this should be measured.
