It should come as no surprise that tank tops are back and ruling the fashion world. The Prada Fall/Winter 2022 show made it clear that we entered the era of the white tank top, and did it so well.

The Prada FW 22-23 collection designed by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons is a commemoration of life and living – of the occasion of the everyday.

Colliding traditions in unexpected manners, an inversion and challenge of materials, of embroideries, and of garments. Fusion of silhouettes and decoration, impeccable tailoring and copious graphic experimentation.

Conventionally masculine pieces are transformed, interrupted with the feminine: coats are carved out at the neck or back. The architecture of clothes affect their rapport with the body. Tailoring construction applied to soft dresses to give new forms, geometrics are translated to jacquard knits, embroideries and colors echoed.

Kaia Gerber’s opening show look was a ribbed tank top paired with a sophisticated three-layered skirt linking dark gray flannel, black satin, and a metallic mesh with yellow details. This white top with Prada’s iconic signature logo became the basis of several looks. Closing the show, Hunter Schafer wore the same top paired with a similar yet more romantic mesh midi skirt with red sequins.

We’ve seen rising model and new icon Iris Law wearing full Prada at the ‘Pistol’ premiere in London pairing a sheer floral slip dress layered over the white tank top from the FW22 collection. Spotted Charli D’amelio with a similar look, and Julia Ducournau layering a black evening sequined dress with the top underneath, showing only the triangle logo, adding the perfect touch to the look.

Let’s be honest, I’ve always loved a tank top, but the power this particular top holds is unmatched. It is a white slim-fit ribbed tank top carrying the iconic Prada triangle logo, the ideal fusion of chic and simple.

From the looks of the runway, it shows how well the top pairs with a midi skirt or an oversized blazer and some kitten heels for a chic everyday look. However, there are endless combinations, the top can be paired with just about any type of outwear and worn at just about any type of occasion, making it the wardrobe staple piece of the season.
