Zapata’s digital works will include pieces styled by Sita Abellan

World-renowned Spanish artist Domingo Zapata is partnering with fashion icon, stylist, and techno DJ Sita Abellan to make his NFT debut with a series of 8888 pieces featuring his iconic pandas, of which Sita will personally hand-style 50, with her unique personality and attitude.

Zapata will be debuting his well-acclaimed Panda series in the Metaverse, a collection that is owned by celebrities and collectors around the globe. It is considered one of his most iconic and recognized collections and has even been emblazoned on designer clothing and accessories. In the series of 8888 NFTs, the panda will be brought to virtual life, and each NFT will be available for purchase through an auction.

The Panda NFTs will be 3D and a select 50 will be individually styled by Sita, the world-famous techno DJ, musician, designer & stylist who has collaborated with brands such as Fendi and Nike and styled celebrities ranging from Kim Kardashian to J Balvin.

Sita has invited several of her notable friends including the likes of Balvin and Anitta to join the mint process, styling their own bespoke pandas, and we expect more of them to join.

Sita says of the collaboration “Domingo is an artist I have admired for many years, someone pushing boundaries and moving between the traditional and cutting edge, plus a fellow Spaniard. This is my first experiment in the metaverse, but it was a great one for me, bringing my real-world skills of styling into the digital universe. I am excited to do more in this sphere, as it feels like it is pushing the limits, which is always part of my approach.”

Zapata has been involved in multiple fashion projects with renowned brands and created lines for New York and Los Angeles fashion weeks. In 2018, Zapata collaborated with Pope Francis to create a mural in celebration of immigrants. Zapata has recently completed a 45-foot mural for the Cohen Children’s Medical Center in New York City; the largest mural at a Children’s Hospital ever painted.

Describing his work with Sita, Zapata says “I have been a big fan of Sita for many many years. She is spectacular and incredible. There are no words to describe how artistic her styling is. For me, it’s an honour to work with her. The result is what I expected. Purely amazing”.

Release dates for the Panda series will be shared on the Domingo X Sita website here, as well as further information on how to purchase your own individual NFT.
