Can you share more about your musical journey and the influences shaping your sound?

It’s been a fantastic run so far, I am learning a lot of lessons and pushing to be the best version of myself. To be brief, my experiences simply influence my sound. I also listen to all genres, and I’m fond of making a blend of all the various genres unconsciously and consciously.

Your latest single, ‘Where Dem Dey’ is described as an empowering anthem against oppression. What moved you to create a song with such a powerful message?

My experience so far as a Cameroonian. The crisis, the war…whatever way we may call it. It is what it is, and it’s seriously been damaging the personal lives of those feeling the impact, talking less of those at ground zero. We need a change for the better. My people no longer have a voice or a choice. I’m playing my part.

Can you walk us through the creative process of the song?

Creating ‘Where Dem Dey’ was absolutely fire! I was in Senegal with the team then; it was truly a work of art. It made everyone in the room vibrate at my frequency. My producer used hip-hop chords, which was a unique touch. I knew exactly how it had to go after hearing the beat. It’s a song I made to encourage people to stand on business. I reminisced on how we were at war, and I felt I was at the front line with my city behind me alongside the rest of my people region… all living in fear. I wish to bring my people’s faith, love, happiness, prosperity, and power back.

We, the artists, are in the best possible position to do it! We are responsible for preaching the right message to and for our people to tell the truth. God willing, I wish to change the narrative for the better.
