CELEBRATING A DECADE OF ICONIC LJUBLJANA’S CLUB KURZSCHLUSS
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Kurzschluss. The celebration kicks off this weekend with two exciting events and will peak on December 22nd, when Kurzschluss hosts the legendary UMEK. Kickstarting electronic music scene in Slovenia, he is a now a legend with a remarkable three-decade-long career. During the event, UMEK will not only look back at the evolution of his prolific musical legacy, but will treat the audience to a never-before-heard and seen retrospective of his 30 years of activity. Replaying the entire spectrum of his techno creations, he will offer a glimpse into work over the years.
Accompanying UMEK will be renowned artists who have made their mark in the electronic music landscape. DJ Rush, Sam Wolfe, Marko Nastić, and Dejan Milićević will join forces to create an unforgettable experience that underlines the celebration of Kurzschluss.
UMEK is the techno legend who kickstarted Slovenia’s electronic scene, and went from organizing illegal raves to being a global music ambassador. UMEK appearances span from Berlin’s underground to the biggest techno stages worldwide. As a tireless producer, he dominates Beatport’s charts, mainly through his imprint 1605. With over 25 years in music, he co-founded Viberate, a music-tech startup aiming to build the world’s greatest music platform.
DJ Rush sets are a rhythmic journey through the deep realms of reality, mind, and soul. Drawing from eclectic influences like Brazilian Jazz and disco to The Beatles, Rush’s open-minded approach to life reflects in his music—a fusion of feelings and experiences. Growing up on Chicago’s South Side, Rush embraced the music fever in clubs like The Ringzone. Starting with sinsonic drums in bedroom productions, he crafted The Energy EP, playing with voices and percussion. Dedicated to rhythm and drums, Rush’s global impact includes hits like Spitball and I Love You. His uniqueness shines in both productions and live performances, with memorable residencies at Reactor and Medusa clubs. DJ RUSH stands tall as a central figure in Chicago’s house scene.
Sam Wolfe the rising star of techno, made waves with his debut EP “Triangulum,” hitting Beatport #1. Collaborating with YellowHeads, “Hippodrome” climbed to #4 on Techno Hype. In 2021, “7AM” on T-Minus Records and releases on Phobiq, Senso Sounds, and Purified Records continued his chart-topping streak. 2022 saw him headline global stages with acts like Deborah De Luca and Boris Brejcha. 2023 kicked off with the “Out of Phase” EP and a CRSSD Spring Festival after-party.
Marko Nastic is a techno legend who embraced the Serbian scene in the ’90s. In his 25-year career, he’s made waves in tribal techno through three-deck mastery, Recycled Loops releases, and Recon Warriors imprint. Marko’s journey explores techno, tribal, house, minimal, tech house, and breakbeat, showcasing his versatility. He is the driving force behind the “Easy Tiger” party series and its vinyl-only label. Under his moniker “Rakija,” he dives into bootleg releases and contributes to projects like TTP 2.0 and “Amnasti.” 2024 brings an eagerly awaited album with Ana Curcin, promising another exciting chapter.
DJ Dejan Milićević, a Serbian techno pioneer, has built a 20-year international career during major festivals to top European clubs blending house and techno with a unique flair. Dejan’s tracks, featured on labels like Plastic City and Suara, showcase his diverse production skills. In 2014, he launched Tit Zero Recordings, fostering young talent in the region. Celebrating its sixth anniversary in 2020, Tit Zero Recordings marked the occasion with Dejan’s fourth studio album, “Digging For The Good Stuff.” The club-centric project reflects Dejan’s experimental approach to sound, featuring artwork by multimedia artist Dzoni Rackovic and designer Vlada Stevanovic.
