Bottega Veneta launches its latest, limited-edition fanzine, available free-of-charge in all Bottega Veneta stores, as well as select bookstores, around the globe.

The fanzine offers an intimate glimpse into the creative process of Matthieu Blazy’s Summer 24 collection, which celebrates both physical expeditions and flights of imagination. Comprising four volumes, this publication merges Alec Soth’s photography, behind-the-scenes glimpses, sketches, stickers, and a travel journal, inviting readers on a vicarious journey to the Tokyo campaign shoot while nurturing their own imaginative wanderings.

Encased in a printed slipcover adorned with the same whimsical map that graced the flooring of the House’s Summer 24 show, the fanzine embodies the spirit of adventure and exploration. Alec Soth’s campaign photography captures the essence of Tokyo’s playgrounds, with their animal-shaped structures, rocks, and mushrooms. Renowned Magnum photographer Soth, celebrated for his “on the road” aesthetic and epic photographic voyages, highlights the physicality and whimsicality of these structures, echoing the craftsmanship and imagination evident in Matthieu Blazy’s designs.

“When I encounter Matthieu’s work, I am in two worlds simultaneously,” says Soth. “One is profoundly physical – a world of craftsmanship that engages all the senses – and the other is the stuff of dreams. My guiding approach to the campaign was playfulness. The playgrounds felt like a metaphor for Matthieu’s imagination. I wanted to bring the same spirit to my pictures.”

Volumes 2 and 3 inspire readers’ own physical or fantastical journeys, with a Carnet de Voyage, or travel notebook, and a sticker set featuring motifs from the Tokyo playground structures, from the collection and Summer 24 runway, as well as from vintage luggage labels and travel graphics. The final volume shares behind-the-scenes images from the campaign shoot.

“Summer 24 is an Odyssey,” explains Blazy. “It is a journey that is both free and hopeful. A connection to who you once were, who you would like to be and where you want to go. The fanzine allows any reader, anywhere, to join that journey, and to imagine and record their own escapes and adventures – whether in the world, or their creativity.”

Summer 24 will be Bottega Veneta’s fourth fanzine. For the first time, the publication will be available not only in Bottega Veneta stores around the globe, but also in selected bookstores around the globe including: Reading Room and Libreria Bocca in Milan; Yvon Lambert and Cahier Central in Paris; Climax, Claire de Rouen, and the ICA bookstore in London; Lulu & The Beanstalk in Dubai; Strand, McNally Jackson, and Mast in New York; Still Books, PDF, and The Phrase in Seoul; Tsutaya Books in Shanghai; and Komiyama, Watarium, and Tsutaya Books in Tokyo.
