BLUEMARBLE SPRING/SUMMER 2024: EMBRACING INDIVIDUALITY AND WEST COAST VIBES
“I have always been drawn to California for its overlap of skate and surf cultures, and for the fore- ver-young mindset. More recently, I found myself fully absorbed in all the ways that locals dress to stand out. People put great effort into building a story through unique pieces, yet their looks are com- pletely laid back. It’s what we explore with BLUEMARBLE and what comes through this season: born from a West Coast vibe, developed in Paris, and discovered around world.”

As BLUEMARBLE arrives at its milestone fifth year, an exploration of individuality has become the single most recurring theme: a point of departure leading to open-ended creation, a snapshot captu- ring various influences from a moment in time.
Highlighting self-expression, this collection exists as a wearable wardrobe composed of youthful tai- loring; colorful, everyday garments engineered for versatility, and dream-fueled statement pieces en- hanced with contemporary craft.
An expanded range of tailoring takes twists and turns through both palette (tones of chartreuse yel- low and dusty cobalt) and proportion, from boxy and cropped to enlarged and lengthened. As a built- in styling trick, zippers behind jacket lapels secure sleeves of surf hoodies draped over the shoulders.
Other BLUEMARBLE standbys are imaginatively elevated and freshly ornamented, with effects more customized than ever. Whereas a windbreaker is fronted with hiking boot lacing and classic stripe shirts shimmer with heat-pressed starbursts, there are message T-shirts adorned with cascading chains; and an open work shirt fastened with a skate belt buckle. A warm-up is reimagined in supple leather.
Two motifs put a wilder spin on flora and fauna. Hibiscus artwork brings trippy freshness, whether ap- plied in rhinestones on board shorts, seemingly airbrushed on coordinated looks and knitwear, and as a graphic pattern ribbed, long john layers. And there are also leopard spots used as a visual contrast.
Subtle allusions to superstition appear throughout: The spiral shell from Corsica known as the Eye of Saint Lucie emerges in studs on ozone-treated cargo pants, while a toad spotted on relaxed pieces signals good luck. For the first time, there is BLUEMARBLE basketball jersey, its number 19 marking the brand’s debut.
Footwear assumes new forms: A collaboration with Italian footwear brand Diemme yields a hybrid skate-inspired mules ornamented with hiking eyelets and a removable, oversized tongue. Thong san- dals are slightly puffy in feel and boast wraparound lacing. The radical wave sunglasses, originally 3D-printed, will now be available in wearable acetate.
As an exercise rich in joyful nostalgia, this BLUEMARBLE collection is ultimately intended for all those who compose their style with a discerning eye and an ever-youthful attitude.
