Fashion During these crazy times and being at home quarantined we had a delight speaking and creating an exlcusive story with top model Maggie Maurer.   Who are you (the long answer, no cheating by just giving your name!) and what is your profession (as in, how do you define it, rather than just the job title it has)?   Joy is my middle name.  I am from a small town in Northern New York state called Potsdam. I was born and raised there with my 2 brothers and 4 sisters . We were all home schooled. I never went to college , I started modeling when I was 25 , after a friend sent some photos of me to an agency without telling me.  I am a Model and I believe my job in to bring to life the idea from the minds of all the different creatives I have had the pleasure to work with.   How do you think Covid-19 will effect the fashion industry both long-term and short-term?  How do you see the impact of Corona crisis on the general perception of fashion? Do you believe everything will just go back to normal after Covid-19, or how do you see it will be?   Let's wait and see , shall we ?   How do you spend your Quarantine time and are you still able to create while being quarantined?   I feel like I have just moved into my flat in London , even though I have lived here for 5 years. The slow pace has been very welcome on my end. I am with my boyfriend ( Scott Archibald ) and we have been working on some really amazing stuff. Thankfully for me he is a photographer and I have not had to succumb to  a "Zoom " or " Facetime " shoot. The voyeuristic nature of it I find disturbing.     What is in your planning for this year and how will Covid-19 effect that?   I  did plan to split my time half here (London ) and half in the states. Proved to myself yet again not to make plans.    What is your daily beauty routine like?    Same as it ever was! Apple cider vinegar mixed with water for toner, rose water, aloe vera, coconut oil with 2 drops and lavender essential oil. In that order.     What is the coolest new thing you have learnt since being quarantined?   I am in the middle of my first batch of Matza ball soup. It's my favorite soup. And the mere thought of it could bring a tear of joy to my eye.   What's your work-from-home style like during these times?   Do you mean what I wear ? When I shoot at home skin is always better, so I guess naked.  Any other time I'm always in a hoodie.   Tell us something about yourself that isn't on your resume (a secret skill, a hobby, a previous job or fun fact about you).   I hate to cook the same thing twice.      What's the first place you'd want to go when it's safe again to travel and go out of our homes?   Local meaning London? I guess the pub with my mates. Travel wise I really miss LA .   What inspired you to start working in the fashion industry? And what are you most proud achieving of thus far?   Nothing really inspired me but when the opportunity came along I saw it was something that could change my life. The Years I spent working at CÉLINE will always be the thing that shaped me and gave me the understanding of the industry as a whole. You have to know what you do to be good at what you do.    What is your favourite song at the moment and why? Do you have a playlist that you would like to share with us?   I do yoga to my Friend Mona Matsuoka's DJ sets ( find on soundcloud )  April 8  Spring mix is a fav.  Where is the cool playlist on spotify , Anderson Paak  Malibu , Childish Gambino " Awaken , My love! " Nirvana Unplugged and Etta James Radio. Beauty Molton Brown have built the reputation as London’s fragrance experts since 1971. The brand grew from small-scale artisans into an international luxury brand as it is today, known for its award-winning fragrances, bath and shower gels, home and hand care luxuries. In addition, Molton Brown is a proud holder of a Royal Warrant for the supply of toiletries by appointment to Her Majesty the Queen Elisabeth II.   Initially, the brand started as hair-care salon and the basement of the salon served for blending natural hair-care products by hand. The herbal formulations and captivating fragrances of those first products laid the foundation of the Molton Brown philosophy. In addition, with their origin in the freethinking seventies, the brand established a strong preference for non-conformist creative freedom – this is still embodied by the brand.   To create original and unique scents, Molton Brown work hand-in-hand with visionary perfumers from a variety of ages, backgrounds, and experiences. Where do you source inspirations for ingredients in particular?  How does Molton Brown work with perfumers?    Molton Brown does not work with in-house perfumers; we choose to work with various perfumers all with personalities and levels of experience. From Master Perfumer Jacques Chabert, and his daughter, the acclaimed Senior Perfumer Carla Chabert, through to New Gen rising stars such as Jérôme Di Marino. It is this mix of individuals, which enables us to keep delivering authentic scented stories and to make.    We ask our perfumers to express their individuality through their fragrances compositions taking inspiration from an ingredient or color that we provide, but build the scented story they wish to author. We launch new blends multiple times per year; the blends that are selected from the multiple submissions are the polarizing creations, the ones that evoke a strong emotive connection.   The diversity of our blends also ensures that a diversity of ingredients is being used. The ingredients that are coming back in multiple of our fragrances are: bergamot, cedar wood, cardamom essential oil, elemi, musk, patchouli oil, pink pepperpod, black pepper essential oil, black peppercorns, neroli oil, sandalwood and vetiver.    Since the very beginning, the quality of our fragrances has been very important to us. Only by using the highest quality ingredients, we can deliver optimal fragrance experiences. We use natural ingredients as much as possible and only where needed we incorporate synthetics (eg because an ingredient is protected or using the pure ingredient is not the best way to convey a certain smell).      Can you tell me more about the new fragrance Milk Musk? What makes it unique and different to your other products?    Describe the perfect fragrance for Spring with your own words. [Why is Milk Musk the perfect fragrance for Spring?   Our new Milk Musk fragrance is a precious addition to our portfolio as it is our first floral-musky fragrance! This fragrance is, just like all our other fragrances, a blend that challenges the norm. It is a unique interpretation of a musk fragrance, combining the unusual lead ingredient milk with sensual musk.    The fragrance notes: Even though the niche ingredient milk is rarely used and polarising in fragrance, Molton Brown advocates for using it. Milk evokes poignant and emotional memories; as one of the earliest scents discovered as a child, it alludes to a universal nostalgia of intimacy. In the heart of the fragrance, you will find musk. Ordinarily, musk is used as a base note, not as a main ingredient. One month after announcing an important donation to the Spallanzani Hospital to acquire a new state of the art 3D high definition microscope, Bvlgari has announced its further contribution to the national effort to prevent, fight and eradicate Covid-19.   The Roman Jeweler has decided to manufacture together with its historical fragrances partner, ICR (Industrie Cosmetiche Riunite, Lodi), several hundreds of thousands hand gel bottles to be supplied in priority to all medical facilities through the Protezione Civile (Italian Civil Protection Department).   “I believe as a major economic actor and symbol of Italy, Bvlgari has a responsibility to contribute to the national effort to help prevent, fight and eradicate Covid-19. Thanks to our fragrances expertise we have been able to develop together with ICR a “hand cleansing gel with sanitizer” which will be manufactured in our Lodi Factory already making our high-end perfumes and hotels amenities. Aware of the difficult situation we are experiencing, we believe it is our duty to contribute with our know-how and production facilities and we thank the Italian Civil Protection Department who will take care of the collection and distribution” says Bvlgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin.   The hand gel will be distributed in 75ml recyclable bottles through the Protezione Civile (Italian Civil Protection Department) in order to help the most critical infrastructures today waging war against the virus. Bvlgari plans to manufacture hundreds of thousands of bottles in the coming 2 months.   "As a Scientific Research and Treatment Institute, with a national and international scope” - says the General Director of Spallanzani Marta Branca “working for research means not only reacting to the emergency, but above all supporting the hope of finding treatments and vaccines for this infection and other serious infectious diseases.
