B.L.A.H. ‘MAYKES’ A STATEMENT
OUTSPOKEN SHOE BRAND B.L.A.H. TEAMS UP WITH UNCONVENTIONAL, HIGH-END FASHION STORE MAYKE FOR AN EXCLUSIVE COLLECTION
Featuring four daring new designs contrasting a worn look with statement colours, the B.L.A.H. x Mayke collaboration launches on October 11 2022 as a limited edition collection only available through B.L.A.H. and Mayke’s channels
Amsterdam-based shoe brand with attitude B.L.A.H. has formed a creative coalition with Dutch tastemaker and clothes retailer Mayke. Together they have created a bold and insouciant new collection of shoes that will be sold exclusively through B.L.A.H. and Mayke’s own direct-to-customer channels, starting on October 11 2022.
Mayke says: “We love B.L.A.H.’s shoes. But what we also love is their attitude! It’s 100% no nonsense. And transparent with regards to sustainability. That’s why we were keen to work together on a capsule collection, bringing our respective DNA together to create something new.”
The four-piece collection is a new take on some of B.L.A.H. ‘s most popular styles. It’s made up of two fresh versions of the Muriel, a new Jenn hi-top and a new version of B.L.A.H. ‘s longest running best-seller, the Gisele. The new shoes feature bold, primary colours contrasted with a lived-in, used look. “We are working on a whole ‘used’ look and will feature this in our next Spring/Summer collection launching in January 2023 – so this collection is actually an exclusive preview for our new direction for next year.” Says Maria Lemos, Head of design at B.L.A.H..
The main difference between this capsule collection and the regular Fall/Winter 2022 collection is the colours that B.L.A.H. and Mayke chose. “We want to bring together sustainability, high-fashion and a perfect fit. So we have woven these values together into each shoe. Mayke’s slogan is ‘Make a statement’ and with the colours we are using here, we believe anyone can make a fashion statement.” says Mayke.
The BLAH team is excited to collaborate with Mayke – the founder of the namesake fashion store, Mayke.com – as she was a major supporter of the brand from day one. She also shares B.L.A.H. ‘s no-nonsense, straight-talking approach – and its aversion to marketing spin. “She bought into B.L.A.H.’s first collection, and for us, her store is a great fashion destination with a fine portfolio of brands, and we’re proud to be part of that world,” adds Maria. “Mayke and B.L.A.H. is a great match in terms of taste and style – but most importantly also in terms of values.”
The capsule collection will be sold exclusively by B.L.A.H. and Mayke in strictly limited quantities. The launch will also be marked with an editorial feature and fashion shoot in the autumn edition of NUMÉRO magazine.
B.L.A.H. and Mayke’s message to customers is simple and typically direct. It’s also inside every box of the new collection: ‘We care what you put on your feet, we don’t care how you style it, that’s up to you, make a statement!’
