The Gradiva, The woman who walks, is a modern 20th century mythological figure from the novella Gradiva by Wilhelm Jensen. The figure was inspired by a real Roman relief. The story was brought to the attention of Sigmund Freud – who wrote about it in his study Delusion and Dream in Jensen’s “Gradiva” (1906) and became since a myth.

For the Fall Winter 2023 collection, Antonin was looking at ancient statues and bas-reliefs from Greece, India, Mesopotamia and the Romans. The collection focuses on the essence of ATLEIN and the core of Antonin’s work with jersey, the most emblematic material of his practice. Starting point for Fall Winter 23 are the ruched dresses first introduced with the Fall Winter 18 collection – a study and evolution of this foundational style.

Ruched, draped, pulled: Antonin focuses on his signature design elements. The timelessness of draping, the comfort of jersey to create soft sculptures the power of the Goddess. The colour palette is “Atlantic” – shades of the winter ocean and beaches, kelp forests and mineral granite – muted greys and greens. Expanded outerwear selection: cropped silhouettes – bomber jackets and aviators with big collars in contrast to oversize “cocoon” soft coats. New materials: tulle stretch, “suedine” – vegan suede (to expand the continuative vegan leather program), silk satin.
