Longevity, peace and prosperity. With the Year of Rabbit coming up, it’s time to celebrate an animal that charms with its gentle and likable character as well as the positive symbolism its year brings on. For this occasion, Acne Studios is presenting a joyous capsule collection created in collaboration with artist Apollinaria Broche. 

The French-Russian artist is known for working with the medium of ceramic sculpture as a playful craft that walks the line between wearable and unwearable, as well as her use of zoomorphic shapes inspired by antique figurines found in grandmas’ glass cupboards.

In a follow up on this partnership that first emerged in the FW21 Runway collection, Broche is bringing back a character that perfectly captures the spirit of the New Year. The capsule focuses around a story of a lucky rabbit named BUN BUN who can’t help but put a big smile on everyone’s face thanks to its big ears and endearing eyes.

The collection itself consists of homeware, jewelry and a series of sculptures. BUN BUN appears as an enamel charm, dangling off a heavy chain necklace as well as a single silver hoop earring. Its print comes emblazoned across a large knitted blanket in a perfect shade of soft pink, matching the character’s body.

Additionally, Acne Studios worked with Broche on developing a collection of limited edition enamel sculptures showing the adorable rabbit in a range of scenarios and moods, including one of BUN BUN poking out of the emblematic Musubi Bag.

The campaign for the collection stars Golden Horse winning-actor Vicky Chen in the role of BUN BUN’s best friend, as the duo spends a day out in Beijing. Caught exploring a range of auspicious gifts, including the aforementioned Musubi Bag, they show off the true meaning of the holiday season and the much-anticipated Year of the Rabbit. In the campaign, Vicky wears the SS23 collection and exclusive ready-to-wear pieces developed exclusively for Chinese New Year.

Acne Studios has also created a mini game program with BUN BUN launching on Wechat on January 16th.

The Acne Studios x Apollinaria Broche Chinese New Year collection will launch worldwide on January 5th.
