Poetic, absurdist, provocative, and recognizable, A Perfect Day Tekenshow presents the works of more than 50 international artists. Whether young or old, enthusiast or illustrator, A Perfect Day is perfect for an audience to experience the massive collection of 500 drawings with text that will be on display. From David Shrigley, Lily van der Stokker, Rogier Roeters, Jip van den Toorn, and Kamagurka to Soufiane Ababri, these artists offer us much-needed perspectives on how complex, crazy and hectic our lives can get.

From September 23 to October 2, the third edition of A Perfect Day Tekenshow will take place at a new location: Door Open Space at the NDSM in Amsterdam. There will be a great diversity of work from the autonomous and applied arts to work by artists who are only active on social media.

Visitors can participate in a diverse drawing program too. Learn how to embroider with Maarten Bel, join the Klaagwand, or leave notes in A Perfect Notebook. Become a part of David Shrigley’s artwork by drawing his female statue in The Netherlands debut of his Life Model drawing class.

In the evening program, Laura van Dolron, Katinka Polderman and Rogier Roeters each separately conduct a Perfect Night Live where they step into the fear and uncomfortable splendour of what it means to be human. These live performances will happen in the exhibition space, where you can also view the Tekenshow drawings with text.

Initiated by Corine Haitjema, Olga Scholten and Paul Faassen, the first edition came out of the exhibition Lots Of Things Like This in New York at the Apexart Gallery as curated by Dave Eggers. Scholten exhibited one of her own works there, and became convinced that this concept had to be brought to The Netherlands. The aim is to bring this form of drawing to a larger platform for both the artist and the spectator.
