DR. MARTENS CELEBRATES THE UNIQUE, LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIP PEOPLE FORM WITH THEIR TIMELESS SHOES.

THE JADON BOOT HAS EMPOWERED AND ENCOURAGED THE BRAVEST AND MOST ECCENTRIC WEARERS FOR DECADES. THE BOAT HAS DEVELOPED ITS OWN VOICE AND ATTITUDE. FOR ITS 10TH ANNIVERSARY, WE LOOK BACK ON ITS JOURNEY FROM A SUBCULTURAL BOAT TO A CULT ICON.

When the design team at Dr Martens designed the Jadon boot, they had a clear goal: a boot that stood out from the 1460 but retained its DNA. A boot that would capture the Dr Martens heritage and inspire another 50 years of rebellious attitude.

It created a boot with a subculture of alternative wearers, with the style becoming louder and bolder. The Jadon is instantly recognisable by its amazing Quad sole, a literal and metaphorical platform for a new generation with vibrant, fluid and fearless self-expression.

Dr Martens has launched a short film in honour of the Jadon’s first decade and its place in culture. They highlight insights and anecdotes from former and current Creative Directors Damien Wilson and Darren McKoy, photographer Tommy Ton, fashion blogger Bryanboy and DM’s collectors and collaborators over the years.

“People started dressing a bit more extreme and that’s the foundation of Dr Martens. From there we started.” -Damien Wilson, former creative director.

In the years since its birth, the Jadon boot has left its footprint on blogs and mood boards around the world. But in true Docs style, nowhere was it adopted more fervently than in the music world. An indispensable, stomping go-to for bold non-conformists.

“The Jadon boot plays an important role in music. Pop, grunge, progressive and alternative. The boot empowers artists who really embrace the brand.” – Darren McKoy, Creative Director.
